SUITABILITY OF A GILLES SYSTEM

The 49kW boiler is able to provide all heating and hot water requirements to the property. The boiler will modulate down to 30% of rated output, whilst maintaining over 90% efficiency.

The boiler installed has a maximum rated output of 49kW which is able to match the peak heating demand of the property.

During the summer months when the heating is switched off the boiler can be switched into timed mode. Timed mode allows the boiler to stay off most of the time firing for a set period once or twice a day, in order to replenish the hot water requirement.

THE FUEL STORE

This installation benefits from a teleporter on the site to transfer fuel from the bulk store to the hopper around twice a month. The steel fuel store with hydraulic opening lid is easy to fill from above.

CARBON SAVINGS

The fuel for this system is sourced from sustainably managed woodland meaning the net CO produced is reduced by up to 27 tonnes per year, which would have been emitted by the alternative oil system.

GRANT

The installation was supported by a grant from the Low Carbon Buildings Programme.
