Heat meters are increasingly used within biomass heating installations in order to re-charge for heat used by the various properties heated. In simple systems where only a small number of properties are heated, meters are usually manually read and end-users billed accordingly. In larger installations where a greater number of properties are heated, it is possible to install either can bus or radio link up to the meters for central reading via a PC. To take this a stage further it is possible to sub-contract the whole meter reading and billing operation. |

Heat SalesThrough the use of biomass fuels it is possible to supply heat to end users for considerably less than the cost of heat generated through a fossil fuel system (<3.00p/kWh). If this heat is sold to the end user at a rate competitive with the fossil fuels (circa 8.00p/kWh) it should be possible to pay back the capital cost of the installation relatively quickly. |
